An Ontario agency thinks Nik Wallenda's hope of balancing his way across the largest waterfall in the world doesn't mesh with the region's "brand."
A daredevil's hope of crossing Niagara Falls on a tightrope has run into a bit of a speed bump courtesy of a provincial agency, which says it doesn't think such stunts align with the city's “brand.” Nik Wallenda, the seventh generation of the Great Wallendas daredevil family, has the support of Niagara Falls' mayor, Jim Diodati, but the Niagara Parks Commission said the tightrope attempt goes against its mandate to preserve the beauty of the natural wonder. Daredevils flocked to the falls in the latter half of the 19th century to attempt all sorts of stunts, such as surviving the 55-metre plunge in a barrel or other tightrope attempts. Whether Wallenda will be allowed to go through with the performance is, if you'll excuse us, up in the air.
