Canada Must Prosecute War Crimes Suspects: Amnesty

If the suspects are sent home, they could be escaping prosecution, or face torture. Neither are exactly great options.
The federal government's continued trampling of basic civil rights, such as the right to a fair trial and the presumption of innocence, has raised the ire of Amnesty International Canada, which says the 30 suspected war criminals on the most-wanted list could be escaping to freedom if Canada doesn't prosecute them before deporting them. With six of the 30 men listed already apprehended and being processed for deportation, Amnesty International warns they could be returned to countries with either no desire or ability to properly prosecute them of the war crimes the Canadian government alleges they have committed. Without guarantees that the suspects be prosecuted fairly at home, Amnesty says Canada should try them here, although Public Safety Minister Vic Toews is having none of that, and will continue to call these men war criminals, even if they've never been charged in any jurisdiction as such, and deport them back to where they came from.
