Atwood Returns From Woods, Slams Doug Ford

We'll buy a six pack for Doug Ford if he makes he responds with a detailed critique of symbolism in Oryx and Crake.
The Sun chain has done us all a solid by publishing overnight political sensation Margaret Atwood's sentiments on her little war of words with Toronto city councillor Doug Ford last week. Atwood said she's missed the fallout of Ford's claim that she should run for council if she took possible funding cuts to libraries so seriously because she's been kicking it Walden style at a cabin, writing away without electricity. The literary doyenne wrote to the Sun saying: “The most staggering thing about his statement is that it implies that only councillors (not voters, not taxpayers, not citizens) are allowed to voice any opinions,” and that she hopes Ford would take more than a “heartbeat” to consider closing libraries. We await Doug Ford's reply, which will assuredly be calculated to provoke maximal lefty outrage.
