Considering that 11 Furniture sells its products already assembled, dare we call it an upgrade on the Swedish megachain?
Not only is the Chinese city of Kunming home to full-scale knock-offs of Apple stores, the massive city also boasts a home furnishings store that appears to be a rip-off of Ikea, too. While the giant warehouse goes by the name 11 Furniture, it has the same distinctive yellow and blue colouring, layout, and even miniature cafeteria that are featured in Ikeas the world over. The name for 11 Furniture in Mandarin, Shi Yi Jia Ju, is also similar to the Mandarin name for Ikea, Yi Jia Jia Ju, although everything bought at 11 Furniture comes pre-assembled, a noticeable upgrade from the store it supposedly counterfeits. Before long, we're going to find out that Kunming is actually just a counterfeited, low-rent version of Shanghai or something, but half-price iPads and Poang chairs can get us to overlook a lot of other drawbacks.
