Only two deathly hallows left to find!
At long last, scientists have finally devised an invisibility cloak that hides objects from view using a reflective "carpet cloak." As creepy as it is impressive, the new material hides objects (roughly the size of red blood cells) from the human eye by routing electromagnetic waves around them to make them "invisible." Though some are disillusioned with the project, (you have to wonder how hard it is to hide a microscopic object) researcher Xiang Zhang insists its potential remains unseen. The study was published in the ACS journal Nano Letters with funding from the U.S. Army Research Office, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, and the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program. Let's just hope it doesn't fall into the wrong hands.
