Omar Khadr's older brother is wanted for terrorism in connection with Al-Qaeda.
The federal government has filed an appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada for the extradition of suspected terrorist Abdullah Khadr, Omar Khadr’s older brother. In May, the Ontario Court of Appeal ruled to suspend an earlier order of extradition to the United States because he was treated so inhumanely while in detention. Khadr, who is suspected of supplying arms to Al-Qaeda, argued that the self-incriminating remarks he made were a result of American-ordered torture in Pakistan. In the application for appeal, Ottawa wrote that unless the decision is challenged it "will inevitably lengthen extradition hearings" and make it more difficult for Canada to comply with its international legal obligations (read: U.S. pressure.)
