The second baseman helped the Jays reach the playoffs three times in five years. It seems so, so long ago...
Former Toronto Blue Jays player Roberto Alomar was inducted into the baseball Hall of Fame today alongside former Jays general manager Pat Gillick. Alomar, a 12-time all-star, is only the third Puerto Rican to receive this honour. In his 17-year career, the second baseman was a .300 hitter and helped the Blue Jays win back-to-back World Series in 1992 and 1993. Alomar was denied entry into the Hall of Fame last year, allegedly a result of spitting at umpire John Hirschbeck in 1996. The baseball giant said he feels “like a kid, a kid that is dreaming of playing the game of baseball,” though according to reports, he is not actually a child.
