Despite conflicting reports as to the identity of the victim, Iran is sure of one thing: Israel did it. Or possibly the US.
The man assassinated Saturday in Iran was actually a student, not a nuclear scientist, according to recent reports. Daryoush Rezaei, 35, was shot outside his home in Tehran by gunmen on a motorcycle. Despite earlier reports from Iranian media that he was a scientist involved in Iran's nuclear program, state television now claims he was actually a masters student in electronics. In a completely expected public statement, Ali Larijani, the speaker of parliament, called the attack a Zionist conspiracy (an accusation Iranian officials also levied against the 2012 Olympic logo and Harry Potter.) Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says Iran will continue its uranium enrichment program despite UN sanctions.
