Rescued Chilean miner visits Collingwood, Ontario for an Elvis festival.

35-year-old Chilean miner Edison Pena arrived in Canada this week for the annual Collingwood Elvis Festival after listening to the King every night underground. Pena, who was one of the 33 miners trapped in a copper mine for months, became internationally famous for his daily runs and love of Elvis Presley. “I believe Elvis stayed with me at my lowest moments down there and encouraged me to wait for help,” he said. The festival covered the miner’s expenses thanks to a grant from Celebrate Ontario. Tim Hortons has issued its traditional commemorative Elvis gingerbread man in Collingwood to mark the occasion.
