With Chrysler paying back its loans back in May, the Ontario and federal governments actually made money by bailing out the automaker.

It appears as though that auto bailout that everyone was freaking out few years ago actually made the country a little bit of dough – to the tune of $140 million. The federal and Ontario governments sold their remaining share in Chrysler to its parent company, Fiat, turning a profit on the deal meant to rescue the auto industry during the downturn two years ago. Chrysler paid back its $1.7 billion loan back in May, as well as more than $5 billion to the American government. The sale of the shares to Fiat also gives the European automaker a majority stake in one of Detroit's Big Three automakers. So... Canada makes money, autoworkers kept their jobs, Chrysler's returned to stability, Fiat gets a shiny new toy... everybody wins?
