Given NATO's pledge of collective security, does this mean every country in the alliance must now fight back against Anonymous?
The hacking group Anonymous claims it has stolen a gigabyte's worth of data from NATO, but said it won't release most of it as it would be “irresponsible.” The military alliance is the latest in a series of high-profile institutions to have their cyber security compromised by the hackers, who posted a document on operations in Kosovo on Twitter. The hack follows a string of arrests carried out around Europe and the United States against alleged people alleged to have been associated with both Anonymous and LulzSec. That prompted the two hacktivist groups to post a message to the FBI this morning warning that the federal police force and other such institutions ought to prepare for more cyber attacks, saying “your threats to arrest us are meaningless to us as you cannot arrest an idea.”
