Oil Pipeline Spills 1,000 Barrels in N. Alberta

Crews are tending to a "small" rupture in a pipeline near Edmonton.
An oil pipeline has sprung a leak north of Edmonton, spilling at least 1,000 barrels of smooth Alberta crude onto surrounding land. The Pembina Pipeline Corporation's pipeline ruptured sometime today about 100 kilometres northwest of Edmonton, and clean-up crews are on site tending to the leak. As far as pipeline leaks go, 1,000 barrels isn't a whole lot – one earlier this year on the Rainbow pipeline leaked 30 times that – but that's sort of like saying that a drunk driving accident that just broke someone's arm isn't as bad as a crash that breaks someone's spine (emotional manipulation much? Yeah, well).
