Tories To Bust a Cap in Gun Registry

The federal long-gun registry is living on borrowed time, as the government promises to leave it bleeding out on a darkened sidewalk this fall.
The Tories are finally going to catch that rascally gun registry and kill it good once Parliament resumes this fall. Backbench MP Candace Hoeppner, who has previously introduced private member's bills that targeted the long-gun registry, confirmed that her career-long ambition of getting rid of the program would finally become reality now that the Tories can basically pass whatever bills they want. The gun registry has long been a point of contention between the Tories and basically everyone else in the House of Commons save a few NDP MPs from large rural ridings, with the former saying it's a useless infringement of the right to own guns. The Quebec government has recently raised a stink about the Tories' plan to do away with registry, which applies to rifles, shotguns, and other big ol' killing things but not handguns, saying they would create their own registry should the federal one be disbanded.
