Movie Club will cost more than Netflix, but promises a better selection and won't count against your monthly download limit.
Telecom company Shaw is introducing a Netflix-like movie-streaming service for its customers, but the content on it won't count against their bandwidth limits. Shaw's Movie Club will be available only to customers with cable or internet plans with Shaw, and will cost $12 a month for regular streaming, or $17 a month for a high-definition plan. Shaw is only available to people living in Western Canada, so those of us stuck out in Ontario or anywhere east of that will have to rely on (the cheaper, for now) Netflix, whose content does count against monthly bandwidth caps. Around 250 titles are available on Movie Club, but that total will grow each month. Also, Shaw says the selection will have newer movies than Netflix, which has been criticized for having a weak library of films and few new releases.
