The fracas over the fracosaurus comes to a head as the Calgary-based energy giant decides Talisman Terry should be extinct.
Talisman Energy has stopped distributing a kids' colouring book featuring a hard-hatted, safety-vest-wearing cartoon dinosaur after heaps of criticism from the likes of Stephen Colbert over its optimistic portrayal of what land used for shale fracturing can be turned into. Calgary-based Talisman, a natural-gas drilling company, pulled Talisman Terry's Energy Adventure after Colbert lampooned the “fracosaurus” and his overly propagandistic approach to natural-gas extraction on his show this week. The colouring book had been distributed throughout New York and Pennsylvania, where Talisman practices “fracturing,” a process of natural-gas extraction. If you're so inclined, you can check out the colouring book's contents here.
