When the parents of a murdered 13-year-old girl tell you it's time to resign, it's tough to say no.
Rebekah Brooks has resigned from her position as the chief executive of Rupert Murdoch's British newspaper company, News International. Brooks, who was formerly an editor at News of the World, said her resignation will make it easier for her to answer questions posed by Parliament next Tuesday, alongside Rupert and James Murdoch. The executives will be grilled over the phone-hacking scandal that led to NoW's closure and blew up the elder Murdoch's purchase of satellite broadcaster BSkyB. Brooks had been an editor at NoW from 2000-2003 before jumping to the Sun, News International's tabloid daily, where she was an editor from 2003-2009.
