The Ford takeover of Toronto is complete, with 20-year-old Krista named captain of the Toronto Triumph.

The captain of the first Canadian team in the Lingerie Football League will be Krista Ford, niece of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford and daughter of councillor Doug Ford. Krista, 20, will hit the gridiron for the first time on Sept. 17 as middle linebacker for the nascent Toronto Triumph when it takes on the Tampa Breeze. The LFL plans to expand into as many as five other Canadian cities next year, with Montreal, Hamilton, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver being considered to join the 11 U.S. teams. LFL players wear typical football pads, but only a bikini top and spandex shorts. The mayor says he will attend the home debut, which apparently rates as more important to him than the million-plus people who came out for the Pride parade on Sunday.
