Gaza Flotilla Planning Ways Around Greek Ban

After a week of delays and offers to distribute its aid through sanctioned channels, the flotilla's leadership considers new options.

Canadian activists aboard the flotilla that intends to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza say they might have to visit other countries first to skirt a Greek ban on them from leaving port. The 10-ship aid flotilla has been held up on the island of Crete for the past week, where the Greek coast guard has refused to let the ships set sail for Palestine. Activists say they could skirt the Greek ban if they first sailed to a third country, and then carried on to Gaza from there. On Sunday, the activist leadership rebuffed an offer from the Greek government, sanctioned by both Israel and Palestine, to have the aid distributed through more legitimate channels so as to avoid a confrontation between the flotilla and Israeli security forces who've said they will uphold the blockade.
