Yingluck Shinawatra would become Thailand's first female prime minister.
Exit polls on Sunday suggest the opposition party allied with former Thailand prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra is set for a landslide victory in the country's first general election in years. One poll indicates the Pheu Thai Party, allied with Thaksin and led by his youngest sister, Yingluck Shinawatra, would win 313 seats, compared with 152 for the Democrats, headed by Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva. Official results are expected Sunday evening. The former prime minister is in self-imposed exile in Dubai after his government was toppled in a military coup in 2006.
