The royal newlyweds draw the 'biggest crowd yet' in Ottawa for Canada's birthday.
Some 300,000 revellers greeted the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at Canada Day celebrations in Ottawa on Friday. Even Prime Minister Stephen Harper acknowledged that the royal newlyweds had drawn the "biggest crowd yet." Prince William took the podium on Parliament Hill, wishing Canada a happy birthday and thanking the country for its military contributions in Afghanistan. William also noted his wife's own connection to Canada: Her grandfather trained as a pilot in Alberta during the Second World War. The prince said they look forward to being “part of the Canadian family.”
