Findings based on a review of scientific studies looking at whether mobile phones increase risk of brain tumours.
A new review by the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection released Friday says cellphones do not cause cancer. The study's committee, chaired by Prof. Anthony Swerdlow of the Institute of Cancer Research, examined all published scientific studies on whether mobile devices increase the risk of developing brain tumours and found no rise in reported brain tumours since the introduction of cellphones 20 years ago. The committee concluded that "the trend in the accumulating evidence is increasingly against the hypothesis that mobile phone use can cause brain tumours in adults.” The news comes weeks after the World Health Organization warned for the first time that mobile phones may cause cancer.
