Harper 16th on List of Leaders Using Social Media

Another "name my cat" contest on Facebook would surely put the PM into the top 10.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper's social media presence is about average compared to other heads of state, ranking 16th out of 25. U.S. President Barack Obama nabbed the top spot in the Global Post survey, owing to his 30 million followers on Facebook and Twitter, and his revolutionary use of YouTube. Harper's 63,000 Facebook fans and 150,000 Twitter followers aren't terrible numbers, but they put him well behind such reputable leaders as Venezuela's Hugo Chavez (No. 3) and Silvio “The Man Who Screwed Italy” Berlusconi (No. 14). Granted, as this is only a measure of the number followers each head of state has, Canada's small population and relatively bland politics can't compete with the likes of Nigeria's awesomely named president, Goodluck Jonathan (No. 9), or Mohamed ElBaradei (No. 8), one of the leaders of Egypt's revolution.
