Will & Kate's Visit to Canada Draws 1,300 Journalists

When the Queen visited Canada last summer, a mere 20 reporters followed her around.

When the royal newlyweds touch down in Canada next week for their nine-day tour, they will be greeted by 1,300 shouting journalists. At last count, the Department of Canadian Heritage show 1,056 Canadian members of the media and 241 members of the foreign press have been accredited to follow around the new Duke and Duchess on their Canadian voyage as they attempt to get that perfect shot. Some say the huge spike in interest from the foreign press signals a new dawn for the royal family, one that started at William and Kate's fairy-tale wedding two months ago, and will continue with their first public tour as a couple, where Canada will take centre stage.
