Welcoming Back, Winnipeg Jets

Winnipeg's NHL team will sound the same as the old one, but it won't look the same.

It's official: The Jets are back in Winnipeg. True North chairman Mark Chipman confirmed the name of Winnipeg’s NHL team Friday night at the NHL entry draft in Minnesota. Chipman said after talking to a wide range of people, including hockey scouts, family, close friends and hockey friends, there was a strong preference for the name 'Jets'. Though the name will remain the same, it's been said that the new colours and logo of the team - which have yet to be announced - will bear no resemblance to the old Winnipeg Jets.
