MPs set a record for non-stop debate on back-to-work legislation.
The NDP has continued to delay the Conservative government's back-to-work bill to end the postal dispute by pulling a second all-nighter, carrying it into Saturday morning. The Official Opposition began their filibuster Thursday and continued it Friday despite a setback when the Liberals joined with the Conservatives to defeat an NDP motion to put off second reading for six months. The NDP argues Bill C-6 weakens the right to collective bargaining. Members of Parliament have set a record for non-stop debate for back-to-work legislation, besting the old record of 27.5 hours set in 1989.
