Balsillie, Lazaridis No Longer Billionaires

The RIM bosses' massive charitable donations and devalued share prices mean they're now just paltry hundred-millionaires.

Research In Motion's ever-tumbling stock prices mean that co-CEOs, Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis are no longer billionaires. Prices for shares of the BlackBerry maker have fallen from $60 in March to less than $30 today, halving their fortunes from the nearly $2 billion each man could claim just a couple of months ago to around $800 million each now. RIM has had to cut jobs and trim earnings expectations in the face of slower-than-expected sales for BlackBerry smartphones and the company's new tablet, the PlayBook. For Balsillie, this probably means that any chances he had to own an NHL team are very much reduced, much to the pleasure of the league and fans of hapless southern franchises.
