Consider the 'T's crossed and the 'I's dotted – the Winnipeg Name Pendings will hit the ice this fall.

The Atlanta Thrashers' relocation to Winnipeg just got more official-er, with the NHL's board of governors granting unanimous approval to True North Sports and Entertainment's purchase of the team. The board's approval was the final step in bringing a hockey team back to Winnipeg (besides unveiling a name and logo, at least) and means that there will be, without a doubt, a top-tier pro hockey team skating at the MTS Centre this fall. The board of governors, comprising the owners of all 30 NHL franchises, will now boast Canada's wealthiest man, David Thomson, the financial backer of True North, and Mark Chipman, the chair of True North, among its membership.
