The company introduces a new version that is bigger and better than its predecessor.
Boeing unveiled a new 747, called the 747-8 Intercontinental, at the Paris Air Show at Le Bourget airport on Sunday. The new Boeing is bigger than its predecessor in every way: It's 76.4 metres long - six metres longer than the Boeing 747-400; it carries 467 passengers, compared to 416 for the previous version; and it's equipped with the latest General Electric motors. The only larger passenger jet is the Airbus A380. The 747-8 already has 33 sales, with its main buyers being Korean Air and Lufthansa. The list price is $317.8 million, though discounts of 30 per cent or more are available.
