At a virtual conference, interim leader Bob Rae said his party needs "to do things differently this time."
About 2,000 Liberal delegates at a "virtual convention" voted Saturday to postpone a leadership vote until sometime between March and June 2013. The Liberals hope the delay will give them an edge against rival parties who want to eliminate them from Canada's federal political landscape. Toronto MP Bob Rae was elected interim leader and will hold the position until a permanent successor is chosen. During the teleconference, which was streamed live on the Liberals' website, Rae urged delegates to give their party time to organize themselves since their colossal defeat in last month's federal election. "Something different happened on May 2," he said. "This has put us in a different place. We need to do things differently this time."
