An Italian inmate claims the convicted American student is innocent in the slaying of her roommate.

According to an Italian inmate's testimony on Saturday, convicted American student Amanda Knox is innocent in the killing of her roommate, Meredith Kercher. Mario Alessi, who is serving a 30-year sentence for killing and kidnapping an 18-month-old boy, testified that Rudy Guede, who has also been convicted of being involved in Kercher's murder, told him that Knox was not involved in the killing. Guede allegedly told Alessi he had been with an unnamed friend that night when they visited Kercher at the house she had shared with Knox. Knox is currently serving a 26-year prison sentence, but continues to maintain that she is innocent.
