The Libyan rebel movement's leadership will host the foreign affairs minister when he visits to solidify ties between the two.

Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird will travel to Benghazi, Libya, to meet with representatives of the rebel movement's Transitional National Council. After meeting with the TNC's representative in Canada, Baird said his office would assist the nascent administration with figuring out how to govern, ideally without the brutal suppression or questionable fashion choices that have marked the reign of Libya's current leader. Further, the minister said he'd try to find a way around sanctions that have frozen assets and business transactions in Libya so as to get more money flowing to the rebels as their campaign against Moammar Gadhafi enters its fifth month.
