Kindle Bookstore Overloaded with Spam

Because where there is the internet, there is spam.

Amazon's Kindle bookstore is being flooded by garbage, and it's not coming from Dan Brown or Stephanie Meyer. The gadget's self-publishing application has attracted hundreds of spammers who are clogging the service with 99-cent ebooks, most of which are outright copies of other people's works. Some 2.8 million ebooks were released last year, compared to about 318,000 hard-copy books. Ereaders have given many authors another outlet to publish their works, but have also provided a new avenue for more disingenuous types looking to score some quick money – “authors” can receive up to 75 per cent of their sales.
