100,000 Fans Expected in Downtown Vancouver

Apparently there's a hockey game on or something? Isn't it June?

As many as 100,000 people are expected to hit the streets of downtown Vancouver tonight to take in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals – more people than were out for the gold-medal hockey game during last year's Olympics. If the Canucks can pull off a victory – and Lord help them, and especially Roberto Luongo, if they don't – it'll mean a party the likes of which the country hasn't seen since the Canadiens won the Cup way back in 1993. If not, police are on the ready to make sure there's no repeat of the chaos and rioting that unfolded after the Canucks lost to the New York Rangers in Game 7 of the 1994 finals. Either way, there are going to be a hell of a lot of hangovers in the Lower Mainland tomorrow morning.
