Libyan Students in Canada Need Money

The Libyan government, for some reason, hasn't made a priority of paying tuition for students abroad.

About 500 Libyan citizens studying in Canada haven't received funding from their homeland since the end of May, forcing many of them to contemplate returning to war-torn Libya if they can't afford to stay here. The students' tuition and living expenses had been covered by the Libyan government, and had been exempt from sanctions freezing assets owned by the Gadhafi regime in Canada. However, Libya stopped contributing to the education fund in May, and the war has made communicating with officials responsible for the file more difficult. The agency responsible for doling out the funds in Canada is hoping universities can delay payment deadlines so that the students can avoid having to return home.
