Hundreds flee Syria as the UN Security Council prepares a resolution that would condemn the Assad regime.
Turkey has said it will provide refuge for any Syrians seeking to leave their country amid uprising and subsequent violent crackdown, with more than 1,000 people crossing the border in 24 hours. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said any pro-democracy protester fleeing Syria would be welcome in his country, where a camp just near the town of Yayladagi is now a temporary home to the Syrian refugees. Erdogan, who is seen as a key regional broker in the various Middle Eastern and North African revolts, urged Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to stop the violence that has killed more than 1,200 people in two months.
