NATO applies the pressure with the introduction of helicopters in their attempt to take down Gadhafi.
In a major step-up in NATO's operations in Libya, British Apache and French attack helicopters hit targets for the first time, striking Moammar Gadhafi's troops on Saturday near the coastal city of Brega, an important city to Libya's oil industry. The usage of helicopters is a game-changer for NATO, which had previously relied on attack jets flying above 15,000 feet. The helicopters allow the alliance to target areas they weren't able to do so before. According to a NATO spokesman, the operation was for placing "additional pressure on the Gadhafi forces who continue to threaten the civilian population."
