PM's Spokesman Stepping Down

After helping steer the Conservatives to a majority, Dimitri Soudas will resign from one of the toughest jobs on the Hill.

Dimitri Soudas, Prime Minister Stephen Harper's chief spokesman, will be resigning from his position at the end of the summer. Soudas broke the news – we wonder why it wasn't in a tersely worded, vague press release issued just before deadline – during the Conservatives' caucus meeting this morning, and confirmed it on Twitter, saying his first priority will be his young family. Soudas, a Montreal native, has served Harper in a number of adviser roles since 2002, most recently as his communications director. He followed such luminaries as Kory Teneycke, John Williamson, and Sandra Buckler, and his ever-ready, hyper-partisan statements on behalf of the prime minister will surely be missed by masochistic reporters across the country.
