Google Chairman Sorry For Social-Media Failures

The search engine had plans to co-operate with Facebook, but Eric Schmidt admits he didn't do enough to reach a deal.

Google chairman Eric Schmidt admitted that he attempted to align his company with Facebook a few years ago, but his advances were rejected by the social-networking giant. Schmidt, speaking at a tech conference, said he wished Google had done better at breaching the social-media world during his time as CEO of the company, and bluntly commented that he “screwed up.” Schmidt stepped down from the position in April. While his honesty is endearing, it's kind of frightening to know that Google and Facebook, two of the biggest aggregators of user data in the universe, were one Mark Zuckerberg mood-swing away from joining forces.
