The Saleh regime appears to have dug in its heels after nixing a temporary ceasefire with tribal groups and protesters.

Yemen could be on the brink of war after a truce between anti-government protesters, tribal forces, and the regime of President Ali Abdullah Saleh ended today. The ceasefire, which was struck after some 115 protesters were killed in the capital of Sanaa, was declared “over” by government officials today. Al-Qaeda and other Islamist groups have also taken control of the city of Zinjibar, which led to the Yemeni air force dropping bombs on the coastal city. Opposition groups and other governments in the region have urged Saleh to step down to avert more bloodshed, but he's yet to indicate if he'll end his 33-year rule. More than 300 people have been killed across the country since protests began in February.
