The Afghan president has had enough of NATO airstrikes mistakenly killing civilians while pursuing Taliban fighters.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai wants to outlaw airstrikes against civilian houses in his country after at least nine women and children were killed in a coalition attack in Helmand province earlier this week. NATO, for its part, has said it will review its procedure on launching the attacks, even though it said it never conducts airstrikes without approval from the Afghan government. Civilian deaths have been a constant source of tension between the Afghan government and the NATO forces engaged in the Central Asian country. Karzai said Afghans would “be forced to take action” against the strikes if they continue, but he did not elaborate on what action that would entail.
