Canada Day celebrations in Ottawa and the Calgary Stampede opening are among the highlights of the newlyweds' royal visit.

The itinerary for Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince William's tour across Canada has been released and will see them visit seven cities over nine days. From June 30-July 2, they'll be in Ottawa for Canada Day celebrations, then move on to Montreal on July 2 before visiting Quebec City a day later. Kate will get to visit Prince Edward Island, home of her childhood heroine Anne of Green Gables, for July 3-4, before flying north to Yellowknife for July 4-6. The newlyweds will wrap up their trip at the Calgary Stampede between July 6-8. Heritage Minister James Moore says the cost of the trip, which will be covered by ol' moneybags, the Canadian taxpayer, will be less than the $2 million footed for Queen Elizabeth II's cross-Canada trip last year.
