NATO Investigates Civilian Casualties in Afghanistan

Tensions between NATO and Afghan officials heighten after claims that an airstrike hit two homes.

An Afghan official said a NATO airstrike Saturday that was intended for insurgents instead hit two civilian homes in southwest Afghanistan, killing 14 people and injuring six. The strike followed an attack on a nearby U.S. Marine base by local insurgents. A NATO spokesman said it is aware of the report on civilian casualties and that a joint coalition and Afghan delegation would be investigating the site.
