The massive data breach is the latest affecting Canadians after numerous attacks targeting Sony in recent weeks.

Some 283,000 Canadians who own Hondas or Acuras had personal information stolen from an online database after hackers breached the Japanese automaker's websites. Addresses, names, and vehicle identification numbers were stolen off of the myHonda and myAcura websites by the unidentified hackers, but Honda's Canadian division says no financial information was taken. Honda sent a letter to affected customers advising them to be wary of any unsolicited offers claiming to represent the car company or its dealerships. Privacy commissioner Jennifer Stoddart will respond to complaints sent to her office over the breach while police mull a criminal investigation.
