While hockey fans in Manitoba are already dancing in the streets, the NHL's commissioner is denying that a move is imminent.

Despite Winnipeg Mayor Sam Katz's avowals that there'll be confirmation in the coming days that the Atlanta Thrashers would be returning to the capital of Manitoba, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has gone and taken the fun out of it all by saying that “people need to take a deep breath and pause” over the potential move. Speaking to a Florida radio station ahead of last night's Tampa Bay Lightning-Boston Bruins playoff game, Bettman said that no deal has been made yet and any speculation until one is made public should be taken with a grain of salt. Katz, on the other hand, was telling reporters that his counterpart in Atlanta had basically told the city that the Thrashers were leaving to go north.
