Zuma to Present Exit Strategy to Gadhafi

One of Africa's most powerful men will try to get the Libyan leader to do what a NATO bombing campaign hasn't been able to.

South African President Jacob Zuma is headed to Libya to strike a deal with Moammar Gadhafi that would see him step down, bringing an end to the country's civil war. Zuma led an African Union delegation to Tripoli last month aimed at brokering a peace deal between the rebels and Gadhafi's regime, but the rebels refused any offer that would have kept Gadhafi in power. Zuma, head of one of the richest and most populous countries in Africa, previously stated that he was not pursuing regime change, but the violence between the two sides seems unlikely to end without Gadhafi's removal from office. South African and Turkish officials are working on an “exit strategy” ahead of the May 30 meeting.
