World Ending Oct. 21 ... We Swear

May 21 came and went with no signs of the Rapture, but Harold Camping promises we'll meet our fate five months later.

Those of us who were disappointed that the world didn't come to an end in hellfire and brimstone on Saturday can rest easy – the man who claimed the Rapture was set for May 21 has admitted he was off by five months. Harold Camping, the 89-year-old brains behind Family Radio, said that after much soul-searching over why we're not all dead or en route to hanging out with Jesus and St. Peter, he's determined Oct. 21 is the actual date for the end of the world, giving us 150 days or so to get our penance on. Hopefully Camping can raise another $100 million out of the pockets of the blindly faithful to cover the costs of a second U.S.-wide ad campaign foretelling the Rapture so that the little-known Commandment, “Thou Shalt Line the Pockets of Clear Channel,” can be fulfilled.
