After months of speculation, an official announcement will be made Tuesday confirming the sale and transfer of the NHL team to its new home.

It's a done deal: The Atlanta Thrashers are moving to Winnipeg. Sources confirmed to The Globe and Mail early Friday that a deal was struck between the Atlanta Spirit LLC, the Thrashers' owner, and True North Sports and Entertainment, the owner and operator of the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League and the MTS Centre arena, which will be the future home of the new NHL team. An official announcement will be made on Tuesday, ending months of speculation that at least one of the league's troubled American franchises would be moving northward.
