Foreign Affairs, Transport, and Treasury Board among positions Tory MPs can hope for.
At least six MPs will get a hefty pay raise tomorrow, when Prime Minister Stephen Harper announces the makeup of his new cabinet, according to Postmedia News. Those six coveted spots all opened up because of MPs who retired, such as Treasury Board President Stockwell Day and Transport Minister Chuck Strahl, or those who were defeated in the election, such as Sports Minister Gary Lunn. The most sought-after portfolio, however, will be Foreign Affairs, which was ceded by Lawrence Cannon when he lost his seat in an electoral upset. John Baird, Jason Kenney, and first-time MP Chris Alexander, a former ambassador to Afghanistan, have all been speculated as replacements for Cannon.
