Strauss-Kahn Hasn't Resigned From IMF

Facing as much as a quarter-century in prison if convicted, the head of the IMF is still technically the boss.

Lost in all the allegations swirling around Dominique Strauss-Kahn – the head of the International Monetary Fund who's been accused of sexually assaulting a New York chambermaid – is the fact that he's still, well, head of the International Monetary Fund. Calls for him to resign are mounting while the French politician, who was denied bail, awaits his fate in a jail cell. His American deputy, John Lipsky, has taken over the running of the IMF, which has been a critical player in structuring bailouts for countries such as Greece and Portugal in recent years, but Strauss-Kahn, who had been a favourite to win the 2012 French presidential election, is still the official chief. Strauss-Kahn faces seven charges stemming from the incident in the $3,000-a-night hotel room, including sexual abuse, attempted rape, and unlawful confinement, and could face up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
