Could Atlanta Thrashers be Winnipeg-bound?

No one wants to keep the Thrashers down south, but this could still be another hockey tease for Winnipeg.

Winnipeg's hopes of luring the NHL's Phoenix Coyotes back home might have been put on hold this week, but the Atlanta Thrashers could very well be headed north instead. Atlanta Spirit, the Thrashers' ownership group, has yet to find a buyer who would keep the team in the Georgia capital. The team has only made the playoffs once in its history and routinely struggles to put fans in its seats. While there's no word on what, if any, negotiations have begun between the team and True North Sports and Entertainment, the Winnipeg group helmed by billionaire David Thomson, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said yesterday that relocation is certainly an option if no one else comes forward.
